Arran Court

This Elizabethan style manor house is situated on the exclusive Webb Estate. The Webb Estate is a tranquil environment, and the layout offers householders privacy and seclusion. The Estate covers about 260 acres to the west of Purley town centre. William Webb, a local estate agent, purchased the site in 1888 and proceeded to
develop it according to his own theories of housing development.

Briar Hill winds it’s way through gentle hills between the South Border at one end and Silver Lane at the other, giving it a pleasant and distinctive character. Briar Hill was cut through in such a way as to preserve the fir and pine trees which already grew on the land when Webb bought it. He felt that if the area covered was divided into plots, the owners would cut them down in order to use the spaces for houses and gardens.
